Immediately After Booking

  • Review your confirmation email: Double-check the date and time of your session and add it to your calendar.

  • Start thinking about wardrobe: Consider a variety of outfits that reflect your personal style while keeping things professional. (More on what to wear later!)

  • Plan hair and makeup: If you want professional hair and makeup, let us know and we can book one of our professional hair and makeup artists for you. In most cases, we can make the studio available for you ahead of your session.

One Week Before

Choose your outfits:

  • Look for solid colors that flatter your skin tone while mostly avoiding busy patterns. We are also happy to help you choose, just ask!

  • Black is great, but don’t forget to mix in some colors as well.

  • Start working on getting any items you plan to bring clean and pressed. Wrinkles show up on camera, big time!

  • Don’t forget the undergarments. Undershirts, camisoles, and, if necessary, strapless bras for off-the-shoulder clothes.

Take care of your skin:

  • Start drinking extra water—hydration works wonders for your complexion.

  • Eat clean: Cut back on dairy, alcohol, and overly salty or sugary foods.

  • Incorporate Omega-3s (salmon, walnuts, chia seeds) and Vitamin C into your diet to reduce puffiness and promote healthy skin.

  • Get plenty of sleep. Rest is one of the easiest ways to improve how you look and feel.

2-3 Days Before

Try on your outfits: Make sure everything fits well and feels comfortable.

Touch up your grooming:

  • Get a haircut (if needed) 3-5 days before the session.

  • Avoid trying anything drastic or new—stick with what works for you, hair regret is real!

Skincare:

  • Exfoliate gently to brighten your skin.

  • Use a moisturizer with hyaluronic acid to keep your skin looking fresh and hydrated.

  • Avoid SPF products, as they can reflect light and cause unwanted shine.

Relax: Take as much time as you can for self care. Spend time doing things that make you feel calm and bring you joy. Just be careful to avoid too much sun so you don’t look red in your photos.

The Morning of Your Session

Eat a light meal: You’ll want to feel comfortable but not hungry during your shoot.

Pack your essentials:

  • Outfits (including extra options)

  • Hair and makeup touch-up products

  • Accessories and any unique items you might want to include (like a hat, scarf, or a prop that reflects your personality).

  • Have an umbrella handy. It rains off and on a lot and getting soaked can put a damper on your session.

Check the traffic: Our studio is located in Winter Park, right off I-4. Allow yourself a few extra minutes to get here. Plan to arrive 5-10 minutes before your session. Too early and you might end up waiting, too late and you can cut into your session time.

Bring good vibes: Feeling nervous? Don’t worry! We’ll coach you through everything—from poses to expressions. You don’t have to know how to “look good on camera”; that’s our job.

How Long Does It Take to Get The Images Back?

Here’s the best part: you will get to see and review your images immediately following your session. You will be guided through the process of sorting the images down to your favorites, and those images will be added to your online gallery for final selection. Each gallery will include a list of suggested images, hand-picked by our lead photographer, Gary Hughes. Typically you will be sent your gallery the following business day.

From the online gallery, you will select and purchase your final images. You can do this on your own, or we can schedule a time to help you make your final selections via video chat. We put our years of experience to work and help guide you to the best selection based on your personality, preferences, and needs.
